Common Allergy Symptoms
Allergies plague a great deal of individuals. The severity of the condition will vary depending on certain factors such as the sensitivity of the individual to the allergen, the type of allergen, the prevalence of the substance and the amount of contact one has with the particular allergen. The exact type of symptom will also vary within the particular category of allergic reaction. The following will list some of the common symptoms as they occur with various types of allergies.
Symptoms Related to Indoor/Outdoor Allergies
Indoor and outdoor allergies are caused by many different substances such as dander, mold spores, pollen and more. With these types of conditions, there are symptoms which are usual for those suffering from allergic reactions. Some of these common symptoms include stuffy nose, runny nose, watery eyes, sneezing, coughing and hives.
Skin Allergy Symptoms
Skin allergies include a wide array of allergens such as food, plants, mites and latex. With this type of allergic reaction, all there really needs to be is contact with the substance in order to cause symptoms to arise. The severity of symptoms will vary and some individuals will be more susceptible to these allergic symptoms than others will. Symptoms experienced by those who have skin allergies include itching, hives, rash and possibly difficulty breathing.
Symptoms Experienced by Those with Food and Drug Allergic Reactions
This category of allergic reactions can often trigger more serious symptoms as the food and drugs are being consumed and not just touching the skin of the individual. Some of the symptoms associated with allergic reactions by those with food and drug allergies include hives, difficulty swallowing, difficulty breathing, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and even the possibility of losing consciousness. The more serious symptoms associated with this type of allergy are lumped under the condition of anaphylaxis, which if untreated may lead to death in the most severe of circumstances. This is why food and drug allergies must be closely monitored as their symptoms have a tendency to be quite severe.
Latex Allergy Symptoms
If you find that you are allergic to latex, you may experience a range of symptoms. Some of the commonly experienced symptoms include irritant contact dermatitis and hypersensitivity. The best way to prevent these symptoms from occurring is to use non-latex products.
Symptoms of Insect Allergies
Insect allergies can become an issue when one allergic to insect bites and/or stings is the victim of such. Depending on the type of insect bite, some of the potential symptoms include redness, swelling, itching, pain and in more serious cases, anaphylaxis. For those who experience anaphylaxis, their symptoms may include hives, difficulty breathing, chest tightness, swelling of the tongue, dizziness, passing out, drop in blood pressure and in worst cases, heart attack. As mentioned above, those who have an anaphylactic reaction must receive immediate attention or death may be a result.
Eye Allergy Symptoms
For those who suffer from eye allergies, the symptoms experienced will depend on the specific eye condition. For example, those who have allergic conjunctivitis may experience symptoms which include itching, swelling, redness, blurred vision and increased tears in the eye region. If one comes in contact with an allergen and they suffer from eye allergies, they may experience any one or more of the aforementioned symptoms.
